What is private label lingerie?

Private label lingerie is designed, developed, and produced by a lingerie manufacturer with the intent of being labeled and sold by a lingerie brand or retailer that is not affiliated with the manufacturer. Simply put, the lingerie retailer works with a manufacturer to produce products that are sold exclusively by the lingerie retailer.

Why do lingerie retailers choose private label lingerie?
